Chapter 6 :

Starless Night



Ueda ran and ran and ran... He didn't know where to go; he just wanted to get away as fast as he could. He ran without looking around, bumping into some people along the way caused him to fall down. He didn't care about that, about the pain he felt when he fell. He just needed to be somewhere faraway.


He felt his heart's pain. It hurt him somehow, even if he did not know why. A name was filling his brain now. Ryo.. Ryo.. Ryo... Was that the Ryo he knew? Someone who had been all over his head? Someone who nobody dared to mention in front of him? Ueda couldn’t find the answers to his questions, he just wanted to run. Voices were in his head. He couldn't make sense of what those voices were talking about. There were just too many of them, too many.


Ueda exited the hospital as he finally reached the front door. He didn’t watch his way as he only wanted to get away, away from everything. He might be a chicken but he did not care. He was so afraid of something and yet he did not know what. Ueda tried to knock some sense into his mind. That was Uchi, right? And who was the other? Ryo..? Who is Ryo??


Jin happened to be outside the hospital as he was too curious about how Pi's plan would go. He was shocked when he saw Ueda run out from the hospital, looking all worried. Jin was scared. It seemed like his nightmare had come true. He shook his head as he thought about that. Everything should be all right as long as Ueda could calm down, right? That reminded him of something: what was wrong with Ueda?


Ueda was running further away while Jin was lost in his own thoughts. Realizing this, he started running to catch his band mate. As Jin was stronger than Ueda he managed to catch him easily but Ueda was not in a normal state. His body was shaking hard and he muttered so many words Jin couldn't catch. Jin tried to calm him down by patting his back but it made Ueda even more scared.


"Tat - chan, Tat - chan!" Jin shouted as he tried to gain Ueda's attention. "What’s wrong, Tat - chan?" he cried.

"W-What was that?" Ryo asked.


Uchi stood frozen to the spot. No, this was not what he had planned. Ueda shouldn't have been here! And that must have been someone else shouting, not his NEWS leader. No, it couldn’t have been them, right? That was what Uchi tried to convince himself, but deep down he knew the truth.


Hearing no reply from Uchi made Ryo impatient. He tried to rise from his bed to see what had happened outside but Uchi realized this and held him down. Ryo tried to fight back but he was not in his normal condition so Uchi overpowered him. All of a sudden there was a loud, opened door voice which distracted Uchi's attention causing him to loosen his grip on Ryo. Pi was there, looking panic-stricken.


"U-u-u.." he tried to utter what he wanted to tell Ryo but Pi was in too much of a panic to speak clearly.


Ryo's face was unreadable. He only looked at Pi with a lonely eye. "I understand, Pi. Now can you help me to go outside?"


No reply was heard from Pi, just a single nod explained everything. Uchi could only watch as Ryo stepped outside the hospital room with Pi right beside him. Ryo stopped as he was finally outside, turned his body back, and gave his smile to Uchi before he walked on with Pi.


Uchi sat on Ryo's bed when he couldn't see Ryo again. Everything turned blank for him. No, this was not what he wanted. This was too much for him to take. It was not his fault that Ryo got into an accident, no, it was because of Ueda, right? Uchi suffered a lot from this too but nobody cared about him.


Ryo was the first thing that came to Uchi's mind when he woke up in the hospital room. His heart was shattered into pieces when he saw Ryo lying on the bed, unconscious. He couldn't completely understand what the doctor explained to him since he was in too much of a panic. Uchi had called Ueda immediately after that but Ueda was strange, so different. Pi was the one he contacted after that. Pi was in a panic himself, then he explained about Ueda's condition to Uchi. Uchi couldn't tell him about Ryo at the end, even when Pi asked him whether he knew anything about Ryo. Uchi had hidden this 'secret' all of this time. But it finally reached its end.


A single tear dropped from Uchi's eyes followed many others. Uchi couldn't help but cry his tears. It had been hard for him too, keeping all of this to himself, and at the end everyone left him. That was what he thought. "Don't leave me alone.." he murmured between his cries.

Ryo and Pi walked together to find Ueda. Pi was worried though, he didn't know whether Ryo was allowed to leave his bed. After all, he must have suffered something quite bad right?


No words were exchanged between the two of them along the way. It was such an awkward situation for the two best friends. But finding Ueda was the first priority so they ignored this awkwardness.


They caught sight of Jin's back as they finally reached the outside of the hospital. It was quite strange though, Jin looked a bit different. It was as if he was holding something which he didn't want to lose. Neither Ryo nor Pi could see it clearly as they were quite far from Jin's place. That was why they decided to walk closer to see what was wrong.


The 'thing' turned out to be Ueda whose body was shaking hard and who mumbled some words they couldn't catch. Ueda was definitely not in a good condition. Ryo stepped closer and touched Ueda's head with his right hand. It caught Ueda's attention as he suddenly turned his eyes to see who it was. Ueda's eyes widened as he saw Ryo standing there.


"R-Ryo?" his body was shaking again, even harder than before as tears started forming in his eyes. "N-No.. No.." he cried.


That was the last thing heard from Ueda's mouth as he suddenly collapsed in Jin's embrace. The other three men panicked while Uchi still remained in Ryo's room..

The next chapter should be the last chapter (I hope). And well... I couldn't say anything again...I just hope that this chapter won't disappoint you.. :)
The next chapter won't be upped soon, I suppose. I have to work on my other fics too, so yeah..
